Philly in less than 24 Hours

.::friday & saturday, june 3 & 4::.

The Wizard World Philly show was kind of a last-minute decision for me. I put out the call for a place to stay and picked the first person I halfway recognized, Sam Moyerman.

When I arrived in Philadelphia (quite belated, as always), I drove around for an extra hour looking for a place to park. I found a place about 7 blocks away from Sam's apartment, gave in, payed the guys, parked my car, and carried my laptop, art supplies and suitcase down to Pine Street in the rain.

Naturally, I passed a cheaper, safer-looking indoor garage about 2 blocks from my place of rest.

When I got to Sam's place, I was completely baffled to find that Sam was Asian! I immediately confessed that I didn't remember him at all. We apparently met at the January show in New York. Yeeeeeesh, my memory! At least he remembered ME.

Hung out with Sam and his friends at various bars all night, passed up the whiskey to avoid a hangover the next day, and luckily remembered to call an early-rising friend to ask if he could call me in the morning to wake me up (THANK YOU!) before passing out.

The next morning (after a pleasant & effective "alarm clock" phone call), I played pack-mule and walked my bags BACK to my car. Then I headed in the opposite direction to walk a good 10-15 blocks to the convention center.

It took me twice as long as it should have to get there. Reason? Along the way I was 100% tourist. I photographed every flower pot I passed.

I was shocked to see a newsstand covered in comic books!

This caught my eye.

Hey, photography major here. Old habits die hard.

How can you tell someone's a tourist? She's photographing the skyscrapers...

Or, y'know... the traffic lights.

Alright, enough of this crap! You want convention details, right?
