My First *REAL* Vacation: Arizona

We did it on SUCH a whim.

Val, my successful and talented college gal pal, was in Wickenburg, Arizona working on a dude ranch - purely because, hey, when ELSE in your life will you be able to drop everything, pretend you don't have a Bachelors in Graphic Design, and work on a dude ranch? I had made the "big move" from employed to self-employed, so my "boss" decided I deserved a real vacation. Hell, she even paid for it.

Val and I checked out ticket prices for an hour online, and to our surprise we found a round-trip ticket from Baltimore to Phoenix for a little more than $200, less than two weeks away. Congratulations, Danielle: you're going on a REAL vacation.

I packed one shoulder bag with an extra pair of jeans, my toothbrush, a few clothes and a sketchbook. Said good-bye to the laptop, scowled at my cell phone and flung it under the seat of my car, and drove to Baltimore to stay with Val's parents for the night. A ten-minute drive to BWI later, and...

Minneapolis has a HUGE airport. They literally HAVE to cover the floors with moving walkways - otherwise, a person with a connecting flight on the other side of the building would never make it in time.
