We did it on SUCH a whim.
Val, my successful and talented college gal pal, was in Wickenburg, Arizona working on a dude ranch - purely because, hey, when ELSE in your life will you be able to drop everything, pretend you don't have a Bachelors in Graphic Design, and work on a dude ranch?
I had made the "big move" from employed to self-employed, so my "boss" decided I deserved a real vacation. Hell, she even paid for it.
Val and I checked out ticket prices for an hour online, and to our surprise we found a round-trip ticket from Baltimore to Phoenix for a little more than $200, less than two weeks away.
Congratulations, Danielle: you're going on a REAL vacation.
I packed one shoulder bag with an extra pair of jeans, my toothbrush, a few clothes and a sketchbook.
Said good-bye to the laptop, scowled at my cell phone and flung it under the seat of my car, and drove to Baltimore to stay with Val's parents for the night.

Minneapolis has a HUGE airport.
They literally HAVE to cover the floors with moving walkways - otherwise, a person with a connecting flight on the other side of the building would never make it in time.
