Bringin' home the bacon

To be perfectly honest, I'm shocked that I'm still able to sit in a chair.

I just returned from a small party (when I say "party" from now on, by the way, it actually means "work," as the only parties I've attended in the past several months were attended solely to make money doing caricatures). I did two over the weekend, one of which was a 900-guest party in DC (the other was about two hours away in VA). I've dropped off work to clients, scripted strips, laid out advertisements, looked over legal information (hint, hint...) and even taken my mother out for her birthday. I've worked my ass off at the day job every day. I have had about 6 hours free every day, and I've spent all 6 of them sleeping. In fact, sleep has been the only relief of every day (besides a few pleasant phone calls and e-mails in the cracks between jobs).

Thus, instead of pulling an all-nighter and going straight into work tomorrow morning to get a GWS update in time... I've decided to do my body good and (you guessed it) sleep.

New strip late tomorrow night, kids... thanks for your patience!

ps. the top image is a glimpse at the Vampirella Magazine ad I'll be putting in soon.... more to follow!

And people wonder why I no longer associate myself with the Methodist Church.

I mean, really. If God was dead-set on forcing gays into religious exile JUST because they have no control over who they fall in love with, don't you think he would have added "Ye shall not be gay" to the Commandments? I don't think he's up there saying, "OOPS! I left that one out! There should be ELEVEN commandments. My bad!"

Grrrrr. That's my rant for the day. I'll keep it brief.

On to other news, I'm sick as a dog, so I'm going to struggle through work today and GWS tonight and hope for the best! If anyone can think of something soothing for both a scratchy throat AND a nauseous stomach (losenges make me wanna gag), please let me know!

Also, my Christmas cards have been made for the year! I'm changing the rules a bit; if you'd like one of my normal Christmas cards to be sent to you, all you have to do is send me your address and you'll get one! However, if you DONATE to GWS, you'll get a special card made specifically for fans of the strip, featuring none other than the GWS characters.

And how can you donate, you ask? You may have noticed the new PayPal link at the top of the screen. Yes, I FINALLY got this thing set up (actually, Allan did... credit where credit's due). So whether you donate a dollar or five dollars or uh... I dunno, six and a half dollars, send me your name and address after you make the donation and I'll send you a card!

If you're not into PayPal, you can always send a check (made out to yours truly) to this address:

danielle corsetto
PO Box 967
Shepherdstown, WV 25443-0967

All proceeds go directly to drawing utensils and hosting, so you're really just ensuring the longevity of the strip... not feeding my appetite for Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

And in case you missed the link...

Lemon and honey

Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.

I called off work for the day, and I'm at home resting and utilizing some of the wonderful advice you beautiful people have been sending me. Thank you! Thank you!!

While I was working on today's strip, I saved off scans of each phase I went through so I can put together a sort of "how to" to show people how I make my strip. Paul Taylor of Wapsi Square (um, if you couldn't tell by its primo ad space on my site, this is my favorite webcomic EV-ER) put together his own "how to" and I found it to be not only fascinating, but helpful. That man amazes me; not only are his strips ADORABLE, but he puts so much time and care into them, AND he updates every weekday! Once I find out how he makes this possible (while still affording food and clothing), I too will become a Jedi Webcartoonist, and will dazzle everyone with a daily strip.

*Sigh.* Somedeay...

Anyway, enjoy and with luck, I'll be up and running again in a day or two. Thanks again for the sick-person advice, y'all!
