A color strip for a colorful beginning! (GWS#266)

Seeing as some of you have already started generously donating to the GWS 5 Times A Week drive, I decided to go all color on y'all for the last strip. Hope you like it!

Come back Monday for all the donation information, including details on incentives for people who donate! Oh hell yes, there WILL be incentives!

You guys rock. Oh, and TORONTO-HO!!

Oh man, guys, we're already 3/4 of the way to a new 5 times a week schedule. You guys are great!!

Thank you so so much for helping us juuuuust about reach this first goal, everyone. I can't thank you enough. And I can't wait to start GWS again! It feels really strange to be home [for a mere one day before I leave again] and not be doing a strip.

So I FINALLY have a little merch to sell at the Paradise Toronto Con this weekend. We've got BUTTONS!!

They'll be for sale for 50 cents per individual button or $1.00 for each snazzy 3-pack you see above. Special thanks to Posuer Ink for getting them to me so quickly and doing such a handsome, professional job on them!

They'll be up for sale via this website as soon as I get to work on the GWS store.

Oh by the way, I haven't come up with a concrete plan for donation incentives yet (as I'm sure you noticed!). So far I've decided that people who donate $20+ will get a special something in their e-mail inbox (as a link, not an attachment - don't worry!), and I will draw names at random from ALL donators to pick prizes which will include:

  • Original GWS or Bat Boy strips of your choice
  • A free copy of Postcards
  • Free copies of Crazy Papers
  • Button packs like the ones you see above
  • Credit toward the GWS store, including future tee shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc.
  • Hopefully that's enough to pay you guys back for your donations. I'll continue to offer incentives like this throughout the year when I run the donation drives, too.

Alright, gotta go sew up McPedro for his Toronto appearance Friday. Hope to see y'all there!

    Hey, PS...

Two things. First of all, Jen Contino was cool enough to give me a big fat interview at The Pulse - check it out!

Secondly, there are a ton of photos I'd love to share with you guys that I haven't had a chance to share yet. First of all, here's my Flickr page that is, well, pretty sad, but it's there. I recently developed my first 120 film from the Diana that my pal Tad was so generous to give me.

And if you're on MySpace, you can also check out my photos from Berlin!! Hopefully I can get them up on Flickr sometime soon so that you MySpace-less people can check 'em out, too.

PPS. Apparently I also got mentions at Journalista and Chef Garret. Thanks, guys!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congratulations to the Readers of Girls With Slingshots! Our battle has been won; July will be a full 5-times-a-week monthful of GWS strips. You should be proud of yourselves!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed! Now the only battle will be keeping the donations going through July so I can continue through August and September. We already have $602.62 toward that $3400 goal, which is a good start!

I'll be adding all merch sales toward the donation drive, so as soon as we get some decent tee shirts (and a way to buy button packs via PayPal), you'll be able to "donate" and actually get something back in return.

Meanwhile, have you all seen this logo somewhere before?

I'll bet you have. And if you have, it's because everyone LOVES this freaking show. It's a great, laid-back and very indy-friendly show that happens every summer in Charlotte, NC. I'll be there this year with whatever's left of the buttons (wow, you Toronto people ate them up like candy!!), a sketch list, and of course, the all-new, all-fleece and all-huggable giant stuffed McPedro!

Please visit me, Liz Greenfield and Jennie Breeden at Indy Island, located nearly smack in the middle of the con! Just look for the cactus, yo.

Also a fan favorite, James Hatton of In His Likeness (aka. "the comic with the dots") will be in Artists Alley, but he's gonna be hidden WAAAAAAAAAY back in the far left corner. Please visit his booth!! He's going to be selling books and DEVIL PILLOWS!! WOOHOO!! He's even made this handy map to find him:

(image deleted because JESUS CHRIST, Jamie's site does NOT need that kind of attention!)

If you take the green route you'll hit me & Liz in the process.

And lastly, speaking of me and Liz, we'll be doing a panel in Room 211 at 4:00 on Friday - don't miss us!!

    Home, sweet....

After three weeks of traveling, lots of family time, and two great conventions, I'm finally out for the count. I'm staying HOME and working on GWS for the next month (you guys have earned it!).

Again, I can't CONGRATULATE you guys enough on the donation drive! Thank you SO much for all the support; some of you went way beyond what I was hoping for, and even the $5 donations have been SO helpful. It's flattering as hell to know that there are so many people who love this strip THAT much.

I'll be updating the dontations graph at the top of this page whenever I get a chance; right now you guys are just $180.10 short of getting GWS 5 times a week through August as well!

Meanwhile, here are a couple of interviews and news blurbs from the shows that may interest you guys:

    Imprint's Paradise Toronto Webcomic Review
(yes, that bit about the Hiroshima bomb is about RAINA, not me!)

Comic News Insider hits Heroes Con
... and interviews yours truly, Jennie Breeden, and plenty of others!

    Interblues: Toronto video.

The audio output on my computer is broken, so watching myself make weird hand gestures and facial expressions sans-audio was an incredibly surreal experience.

I have a feeling I sound much smarter and more witty this way. Try it! Watch it all the way through without the volume, then re-play it with sound and prepare to be amazed at how cunning and clever I am not in real life!

The first two cover the awesome Dayfree Press creators; Liz and I are in the third one down. Thanks to Dayuse for the interview!
