Plugs, and not the hair kind. (GWS#213)
Well, just ONE plug.
First of all, there will finally be something of mine IN PRINT available to you guys.
One of my resolutions this year is to get off my ass and do all that stuff I've wanted to do since GWS started and I quit my day job.
And one of those "stuff" is selling a sketchbook.
I've heard nothing but good things about Lulu.com, so I decided to go with them.
Only trouble is, I've been working for web for so long that I FORGOT how to prep my work for print!
So I called upon a Lulu worker who likes GWS, and he came back to me with all the answers to all my questions, in my native Photoshop language, no less!
So first, a plug - my Print Guru, Josef, is a webcartoonis himself, and I even sat on a panel with him at Heroes last year.
His comic is called Feral Chicken, and I certainly wouldn't mind if you guys would give his comic a try.
I'm pretty psyched about this. And I'm going to have Josef to thank when it's finished.
By the way, speaking of plugs... thanks SO much to everyone who's been sharing links to GWS with their own readers and friends!
It really means a lot to me, especially because I asked you to help after FORGETTING to thank you for being awesome readers yourselves.
That said, THANK YOU for, you know, being that awesome. :)

And if you haven't yet, you will.......... you... will!

Polaroids. (GWS#216)
I almost didn't finish tonight's strip tonight, because my old roommate Kris is just so goddamn talented.
And in case the boldface didn't convince you...

Sorry I've been so quiet down here!
I'm working on a LOT of different projects at the moment, and once I get 'em finished, I'll have a lot to show you guys!
Later!!

Da-dum... da-dum... da-dum da-dum... (GWS#219)
Booooy, I've been quiet lately! Okay, here's a brief post to let y'all know I'm alright (hi, Mom).
First of all, big news!! I FINALLY READ A BOOK!!!! Like, a REAL book.
I picked up a small pile of used books in town the other day (we hippies like to recycle, y'know), and one of them was the original Jaws.
And. I. LOVED. It. Comedy, thrill, horror, a little romance (if you can call it that), drama that doesn't suck... I mean, wow.
If you've never read it, you should.
In other news, I'm wrapping up the first stage of that big project I was talking about.
Here's what my drawing board looked like yesterday:
And of course, I spent Wednesday night drawing my favorite model (yeah, in case you haven't already scrolled down - just as your boss walked into your cubicle - BEWARE THE NUDES!!).
Also, I joined Comic Space, The Drawing Board.org, and ComicJobz.com, all brilliant online groups.
From now on I'll probably be posting my ongoing work (aka. the stuff I don't post all over the GWS site) at The Drawing Board because, dang, those people know how to critique!
And there are some amazingly talented artists sharing their work there.
Have a nice weekend and PRAY FOR SNOW!!

It worked! (GWS#220)
It SNOWED!!
Meanwhile... there are NEW NUDES above for sale and a few old ones that never sold.
The new ones are just $40 (including shipping) because, man, was I rusty Wednesday.
I'm glad I'm doing this once a week again - it's like I forgot how to paint entirely!
If you got snow too, I hope you're enjoying it!

Backgrounds (GWS#221)
Do you have any idea how much fun it was to FINALLY make a stock background for Clarice's porn store?

Oh, AAAAAND...
Here's my guest strip at wonderful Wes Molebash's You'll Have That!
If you don't know of the strip, go back and hit up the archives - it's solid and well-written. Russ, you'll love this.
I'm not sure I follow the switch in characters and style every several strips, but I believe he was using another comic/characters as a special feature on weekends or something.
So just keep that in mind as you read - different style means different story altogether.
Enjoy!!
PS. I just read what Wes said about me down at the bottom of the guest strip, and I must say, although Wes is a very sweet and cordial guy himself, that anyone who meets him in person MUST make a boob joke in front of him... with love from GWS.

OMGCAFFEINE!!! (GWS#222)
Oh my god. Ohmygodohmygod. I am so so sorry to anyone I ever accused of being overreactive about caffeine, and I am so so sorry to anyone I ever boasted to that caffeine has NO EFFECT on me whatsoever.
I lied. It does. It does. Itdoesitdoesitdoes!!
I started lettering the first two panels of this strip and finally gave up - my hands were shaky and I assumed I was just hungry as hell and needed to eat.
So I got on the phone with my friend Mike, and was desperately trying to cook myself some dinner while we were talking so I'd quit being shaky and nutty.
I started stumbling like heck over simple words, to the point where I finally couldn't even put a sentence together.
"Are you alright?" Mike says, laughing but a little concerned.
"Yeah, I'm just I'm just just hungry."
"Yeah? It sure sounds like--"
"I mean I just got back from the tea place and I spent two hours there and all I've had all day is tea and OH MY GOD MAYBE IT'S THE CAFFEINE I mean I know I always said I'm not AFFECTED by caffeine but maybe it's the"
"TWO HOURS?? YES IT'S THE CAFFEINE!"
"But I'm not affected by caffeine and"
"But apparently you are. You are just like everyone else."
"OOOOH my god, I had I had I had tea this morning I had two cups, and then I had iced tea and then I had TWO POTS at the tea place and oh my god will I will I will I stop shaking at some point oh my god????"
**laughter** "Yeah, it will. This is funny. You should do this more often. Or maybe not."
So, people... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It's true. I am JUST LIKE YOU.
Except that you weren't up until 5 in the morning this morning, and I probably was.
If you never hear from me again, I'm rocking in my bed still trying to go to sleep. Please send help.

Cats are Satan. (GWS#223)
Before I post this link... please remember that it takes a very special person to make an entire religion look insane, and that those very special people are the ones we're most likely to choose as their religions' spokespeople.
Now that I've made my public service announcement, I present to you...
Unless you have no sense of humor, this will be the funniest thing you'll read all year.
Mainly because, yes, it's serious. Make sure you read the whole thing!

Pan's Labyrinth (GWS#224)
I forgot to mention the other day GO SEE PAN'S LABYRINTH!!
Unless of course you scare easily, sleep alone, or don't like to have gratuitous violence repeating over and over in your head after a movie.
No, this is NOT just a fantasy movie.
Not only is it historical (Spanish Civil War... by the way, you'd better know Spanish or love subtitles), it's just a good and VERY unique story, and to be honest...
although I usually HATE watching graphic violence (I had my head tucked into Kris' shoulder most of the time, once again wrongly convincing the world that we're dating), the graphic scenes in this movie were incredible.
I still don't know how they did half of them without actually beating and gashing the actors to death.
Anyway... just go see it. It's up for awards, and there's a reason for that.
PS. Decaf tea has changed my life.
(Isn't it funny how long Google took to catch on to those key words, btw?)

Help a mother out.
Mother Nature, that is.
I thought this was a brilliant idea and a great way to not only "save the world" a bit, but a nice excuse to relax electricity-free for a few moments.
At 7:45 tomorrow night*, turn off your lights. Turn off your computer.
Turn off EVERYTHING. Just bask in the glow of the moon, the stars, some candles, whatever... as long as it doesn't use electricity.
Just for five minutes.
Why tomorrow?
On February 1st, the United Nations is publicizing the newest results and knowledge base on climate change.
So yes, it's a statement to the government(s) that changing the climate for the better should be a priority.
This is a worldwide campaign, even if it lasts only 5 minutes.
Personally? I'm going to turn everything off for about twenty minutes, relax, and sip [DECAF] tea in the candle light tomorrow night.
I think it'd be awesome if you'd do the same.
*Thursday, February 1st, between 7:45 and 8:00 YOUR LOCAL TIME (don't worry yourself with those silly time zones!).
