Not EVERYTHING is under construction here...
Believe it or not, I've added a few pages to the site to make things easier to find!
Now there's a page for each of these...
Travelogues (all those wacky trips I go on, plus all the photos that go along with them!)
Convention Sketches (all those wacky drawings I do at conventions, and a few that I take home.)
Anyway, the links will stay on the column to your right, below all the colorful ads (and I almost spelled it "colourful" - I spent too much damn time in Canada!).
So if you don't have time to look now, don't worry; they'll be right there waiting for you.

McPedro begins his traveling adventures!!
Toronto was a BLAST and McPedro and I enjoyed every last bit of it!
Unfortunately, after SEVERAL FREAKING HOURS of driving nonstop, my back is totally out.
So instead of hovering over a drawing board tonight, I've whipped up a quick set of thumbnail links so you guys can see all the goodies I produced at the convention this past weekend, as well as Pittsburgh the weekend before.
For now, please enjoy those until I my vertebrae decide to piece themselves back together, and I can put out a lovely GWS strip for y'all.

Ooooohhh, I suck!
Hang in there, y'all - still recovering from my trip to Toronto!
For now, please enjoy
this loooooooovely guest strip by the talented
Malia Deshotel, another Shepherdstown native!

Cactus dance!
Alright, here it is: McPedro's first trip to Toronto in about 80 pictures!
Pittsburgh is coming up next.
The button will bring up a new resized pop-up window (or you can just "open in new tab" or window and it'll go full-frame for ya, if you don't like pop-ups). Enjoy!
Oh, and Saturday marked the graduation of my brother Brent and his three roommates - congratulations, boys!!

Cameo!
Perhaps
this Devil's Panties strip might hold you over until today's GWS goes up.
Yay!! Now I'm famous!!
may.11.06
Oh GOD!!
Wow... did I REALLY
say that?!!
Heh... kids! The things that come out of their mouths.
In case you don't catch these awesome Devil's Panties cameos when they come out, here are the addresses to the actual strips:
McPedro cameo
Some girl who can't possibly be me 'cause I would NEVER say such a raunchy thing! cameo
Now for some more goodies (see? I make up for late updates, eventually!), check out the new links above!
Yes, I realize that there are still several that say "coming soon!" but look at all the ones that are already HERE!
From the permanent links above the comic:
GWS About
GWS Extras *see below
GWS Banners (yeah, I know! It's about damn time!!)
*The stuff on the GWS Extras page that works so far:
Travelogues
Convention Sketches
Interviews & Press
Plus links to most of the comics I've done since college!
The banner at the top of this page will probably change, but I just wanted to screw around with it right now.
Oh wow. My bed is clean and has absolutely nothing on it. I'm gonna go change that RIGHT NOW...

Quick links...
A few links that I really wanted to share with you guys before I get back to work.
Synaptic Misfiring
Another webcomic to add to your list. Antonio did the first piece of
GWS fan art for me and now he's got this fantastic little comic based on a GREAT idea.
To fill you in, main character Tony has some form of amnesia, and he's learning about his past solely through the stories told by his old friends - people he now sees as complete strangers. Such a fun idea!
24 Hour Wild Pig Coverage
Warning: this has nothing to do with wild pigs.
While I was in Jersey a month ago promoting the 24-hour 50% off sale at
Wild Pig Comics, my pal Eric took photos and put together this wrap-up.
Since I'm in it (as well as the artist and writer of
The Silver Rage and writer of
In His Likeness, two awesome webcomics), I thought you guys might wanna take a look.
Oh, and the writer of IHL? Yeah, that's the guy Jameson is based off of. Look, he's even wearing a bandanna!!
Stuff Sucks
A friend of mine showed me Liz Greenfield's art awhile ago. My first reaction: "WOW!!"
My second reaction: "It's a girl... grrrrrrrrrr! *cat claws emerge*" My third reaction: "She's 19??!!! Bitch is goin' DOWN!!"
But then I started looking at her stuff more, and godammit, I can't hate her. She's just too damn talented.
So I've given up on hate and given in to love. She'll be at
Heroes Con, too, guys!

Lady of the Day.
(photos by my roommate Kris Thacker)
Everyone say "hello" to Sonja. Now try saying "goodbye" to her. Not easy with a face like that, is it?
Well, I had to do it tonight. Which is why I'm going to be awhile with the strip today, much apologies to you all.
Sonja is an exchange student from Germany who lived down the hall from me when I lived in Shaw Hall at Shepherd my sophomore year.
I thought she was way too cool for me (and still do), so I made up excuses to get to know her, such as doing an interview on her for a class.
After awhile I realized that "cool" must not translate into German, 'cause she started hanging out with me every so often, and the next year she lived with my pal Val and I, along with our friend Amy, in one of the suite dorms down the road.
Funny how you take things for granted when they're handed to you.
I didn't hang out with her that year, but as the years went on we became closer, and in the past year I feel we've made up for lost time.
Sonja graduated a little over a year ago, and she only had a year and a few months to either find a job (one that would sponsor her, that is - she's not a US citizen) or get out of the country.
Almost needless to say, she's getting out of the country.
She's leaving Saturday morning and tonight was my last chance to hang out with her before she left.
I'm planning to see her in July after a trip to Spain (fingers crossed!), but it's gonna be tough getting that Sonja fix while she's in Germany!
So although the strips have at least been coming along, this is the main reason I've been late recently, guys.
And I must say, it's been well worth it.
Love you, sweetie - we're gonna miss you like hell!

Extra! Extra!
Just a few extras for you guys. First, while researching Jello shooters (see? I do my homework!), I found
this awesome site. Check out
the recipes, too!
Next, a few after-convention sketches I've done:
The Death is missing her ankh, I know! Forgive me, Gaiman worshippers.
The next one is a drawing of Hazel and Jamie I did for
Paul Taylor, a loooong overdue thank-you gift for the lovely
Monica drawing he sent to me outta the blue last year.
(That's the hotness of Prismacolor markers on watercolor paper, by the way - check out the effect in Hazel's hair!)
Next up is, well, pure lesbian fantasy for my favorite rug-muncher.
Nothing X-rated, of course, but it IS Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl. I mean, c'mon. Where else are you gonna find this stuff??
Lastly, I was feverishly wanting to change
my MySpace profile pic to something that I'd actually DRAWN.
So here's my shot at a color self portrait. And yes, I was generous with the boobs, but y'know what?
That's called "artistic license," baby. So shove it!!
may.17.06
More extra!
My pal Allen Harris over at
livinglightning.com did some TOTALLY awesome fanart of Hazel and Jamie. Check it out!
Be sure to check out his website, too - he's got some really hot work up there and is a whiz with Illustrator.

Drukn post #.....
*ahem*
ADMITTED Drunken Post #1.
Dearest GWS readers with Neflix and/or a decent movie rental membership,
Please add to your queue: Terry Gilliam's
Brazil.
Wow. Wow wow wow wow wow.
I mean, granted... I coulda been the wine. It
could have been.
It even coulda been the natural aura of "I Hate Authority" that mixes with patchouli in the air of my little hippie town o' Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
(Believe me, it's both unavoidable
and enticing.) I'm not 100% sure.
But it also could have been the fragrance of foresight, something that, sadly, only
fiction media seems to have.
Either way, watching this movie tonight opened my eyes again.
Have you not yet noticed this? We trust
fiction media - movies, books, comics, blogs, fuck
anything - more than we trust our own "news" media.
We trust The Matrix more than we trust Fox News.
Think about it. That's more than just a
little bit sad - not for
us, but for the people who are supposed to be giving us
"the news".
I don't often go off on a political rant in these entries, mostly because, embarrassingly (or maybe proudly? I'm not sure... ), I don't follow "the news" very closely.
And I don't like to form an opinion based on a source I don't follow, or trust for that matter. So excuse me for going off, but...
Watching this film, which was created in the mid 80's, made me remember that the suspicion of our government, of the very institution that we trust to save our lives and protect us, is by far not a new suspicion.
We've been conditioned to believe that questioning our government, the people in charge of our beloved Nation, is
bad... or... perhaps just plain
"weird."
But this has been going on for years, decades.
And although we apparently questioned our "authorities" in the past, nothing has been done to make things better.
Our phones are being tapped, and information about us is becoming even more accessable than it ever was, slowly but very surely, by laws that are being passed without us knowing, without our approval.
OUR approval. "Us" being the
people who fucking live here.
I can't even begin to suggest a way around this, a way to "beat the system" or whatever you want to call it.
All I want to achieve with this post is to remind everyone reading that no, this country is NOT getting better.
Like with most brilliant ideas (America being the one in mind), this one is becoming corrupted over time, and eventually it will fail.
America was a brilliant idea when it was created. (
The killing of innocent natives aside, obviously.)
But America is
not going to be King for the rest of eternity.
America will
not be the Police or the God of this planet forever, and I doubt that time it takes for America to fail will exceed the time it takes most of us to finish living.
I'm no history buff (sadly, I pretty much suck in the history department), but I know that the ruin of an arrogant* and "superior" nation is not something new, and it will happen to this one as well.
So what am I trying to get at here? Well, I'm a little tipsy, so admittedly just knowing that a few thousand people might read this slightly-drunken post is
one success in my mind (guilty!).
But more importantly? To remind you that, no matter what we are swayed to believe, we have the power to follow our hearts and our guts.
And although this government appears to be a powerful one, we should always remember that we - HUMANS -
as a species are a powerful race.
Also (this might sound a little self-important because I could be considered part of this category, but I mean it) to everyone who is in the entertainment industry?
Sadly, you are the ones shaping the majority of this country's opinions right now. Don't fuck it up.
And no offense to the guy who came up with "V for Vendetta," but donning a Guy Fawkes mask isn't going to make a fucking difference.
Remembering that we are the same race as those who
"govern" us, however...
might.
Apologies to those outside of the US (and those in the States) who are already plenty aware of all this.
There are still some people who aren't.
So hopefully, I won't wake up with that "I had wine last night, didn't I?" taste in my mouth and regret everything I wrote tonight, wishing I'd written a joke about boobies instead.
But regardless of how I feel about this post in the morning, I know that I can at least stand by this:
PLEASE, waste less, love more. In every sense of every word.
(Jesus, please don't expect me to reply to everyone!)
updates: *changed "confident" to "arrogant" - I didn't mean to suggest that confidence is a fault.
Great quotes from readers:
"Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it." -George Bernard Shaw
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin
