Tidbits
Alright, so it's 3:14 am on April 17 and I have JUST NOW filed my taxes.
It's late. I'm tired. And my taxes took exactly six hours longer than I thought they would.
I'm turning in, dangit!
So unfortunately I won't be doing a GWS comic tonight for tomorrow.
And there probably won't be one tomorrow, either.
And here's why: tomorrow I'll be doing a TV interview for the local cable station.
Yeah, me! If you live in Frederick, MD or have access (somehow!) to
Cable 10 in that area, you can watch me make a fool of myself!
It won't be aired tomorrow, of course, but I'll let you guys know when it's on the air as soon as I find out.
And no, I will NOT be watching it, myself. That's what I have parents for. :)
Some additional tidbits: I've posted a new logo tee at
Zazzle.com with a looser, more comfortable logo design (the last one was all Illustrator and didn't feel right to me).
It's shown on a spaghetti tank for us summer-lovin' ladies, but you can always customize any design to be placed on any shirt you like.
I'll be wearin' one at Pittsburgh if it comes in on time!
Also, WHERE ARE ALL THE TRAVELOGUES??!!
I'll be posting some old travelogues I'd meant to post much earlier, including the New York Comic Con, Staple!, and last week's 24-hour comic challenge at Wild Pig, hopefully within the next few weeks.
Sorry I've been slightin' you guys!
Speaking of Staple!, I was honored to meet and hang out with the rather lovely
Jane's World creator Paige Braddock while I was in Austin last month.
And then I was honored to see a GWS ad in the back of her latest book!
Check out Jane's World #24 and see the Girls in all their snarky glory, and enjoy the book!
If Paige's engaging writing doesn't snag ya, the loveable characters will.
And hey! She's even up for an Eisner! Go Paige!!
I'm starting to do that drooly thing again. Not even the fangirl type, the sleepy type. I'm gonna go now...

Wow. This sucks.
So last night I e-mailed all my clients and collaborators: "Please stick to e-mail when trying to contact me.
My 5-year-old cell phone has reached its last days and is avoiding phone calls."
I wake up this morning and, GUESS WHAT?
My reliable cable internet is DOWN.
I'm at a library using their internet access right now. This. SUCKS.
Needless to say, I've got a few extra things to handle this week now (buying a new phone and macing everyone in the Adelphia building, for starters).
On top of that, I've still got things to put together for you con-goers who will be at Pittsburgh this weekend.
So I'm sorry to say that I'll be taking the week off from GWS.
And although I'll have a new strip up next Monday, I might not be home from Pittsburgh until that morning, so please don't expect the strip first thing!
It'll be later in the day, most likely.
Did I mention this sucks?
But y'know what? I'm gonna have so much cool stuff for you guys at Pittsburgh.
So please stop by the booth (y'can't miss it!) and check out Bat Boy samplers, GWS samplers, original art, Crazy Papers books and just about every other comics-related thing I can fit in my car!

Pittsburgh, ahoy!
Yay, my Internet's back! So here are a few quick notes before I leave:
Look Ma, I'm on TV!
If you have access to Cable 10, the local TV station in Frederick, MD, there will be an interview with me airing tonight at 6:00 and 10:00 pm EST.
They'll be playing it again on a rotation after this, but it premiers tonight (premiers? I feel like I just created the new hit cartoon sensation or something - in reality, it's just little old me!).
Watch it if you want a perfectly good chance to point and laugh next time you see me in person!
Also, there have been/will be various podcasts interviewing and mentioning me, which I'll announce when I get home. Keep your ears open!
Pittsburgh
I'm ready to go, with cactus in tow - come to my booth at
S090 (corner booth near the special guests, third row in) to see what I'm talking about!
It'll be the first and only time you can kiss a cactus without hurting yourself.
At this show I'll have a lot of great stuff, both to give away and sell for cheap:
Bat Boy samplers
GWS samplers
Crazy Papers
leftover sketchbook minis
GWS prints
GWS cards
original GWS and Bat Boy strips
really random miscellaneous original art
So, basically, everything I've found under my bed. Oh, and my favorites!:
commissions, as always ($25 for b&w with greys, $50 for full color)
get your Polaroid taken with McPedro!
I'll also be wearing three of the
GWS tee shirts available at Zazzle.
I got them in the mail yesterday and they look AWESOME! I'm pretty impressed!
May Commission Blow-Out Sale
I feel like kind of a goon calling it a "blow-out sale," but that's just what it is!
I've decided to bump up my at-home greyscale/bw commission sketch price - almost double - from the current low $35 with s&h.
So if you've ever wanted a sketch of Hazel, Jamie, Wonder Woman, a squirrel, clowns humping elephants (just kidding -
NO PORNO!!), here's your chance!
The prices will almost double after May.
Please e-mail me at
girlswithslingshots@gmail.com AFTER APRIL 30th if you'd like a $35 sketch!
And remember that I'll be at Toronto next weekend if you miss Pittsburgh this weekend.
New GWS Monday! (And thank you all for being so patient with the updates!)

Coming soon to a website near you...
First of all, thank you all for being angels. I know I promised new comics today.
This is becoming a hard week for me. Got a little too much going on through to next week.
Secondly,
welcome to anyone who found GWS via the Pittsburgh Comic Con or through a friend and is reading for the first time!
Third (and probably most importantly, seeing as it's right up there), the guest strip today is brought to you by my #1 lesbian, Aimee.
No, she didn't draw it; yes, she used her magical Photoshop skills to montage pieces of old strips together. Pretty good, eh?
You should talk to her in person; she's even funnier, believe it or not.
Anyway, I hope this can hold everyone over until Wednesday.
The Pittsburgh con was quite a success, and to give you an idea of the fun, here's me, the
Comic Geek Speak guys, and McPedro:
Wow, and I thought I was short BEFORE I saw this picture...
Anyway, keep your eyes peeled, folks.
I'm going to pump through this week with GWS, but I have a feeling next week is going to be similar, after I return from Toronto.
All these conventions have been GREAT get-aways, but VEEEEERY time-consuming.
I'll try to post a more certain schedule in June when I hit the Big Apple and Heroes conventions so this won't happen again - at least, not without your knowing it!
Once again, thanks for being so patient, guys.
This week will be off-and-on, but once I get settled back in after Toronto I should be back on a regular schedule.

Quick contest!
Real quick... the first HTML-savvy person who can successfully figure out how to get rid of
THAT GOD DAMN SCROLL BAR TO THE RIGHT OF THE BLOG gets free art sent to their very own home.
I swear to God. You
send me the corrected HTML, I send you art.
It's that simple. A sketch of whatever GWS character you want. All yours. Just gimme the code.
Tips: So far I've found that entering scrolling="no" into the body and/or table tags doesn't do the trick.
Also, I'm aware of the fact that this doesn't happen in ALL browsers; just Firefox and IE, I believe.
Ready? And... GO!!
**Update: Thanks so much to everyone who sent in suggestions!
The problem was indeed in the CSS (overflow), and it looks like it's working now.
So if you still see a scroll bar BETWEEN THIS BLOG AND THE RIGHT-HAND ADS (NOT on the far right! I know I need that one!), please let me know!
And did I mention you guys rule? Damn, a LOT of you guys know HTML!)**

I -heart- Canucks!
So it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm leaving at 10:00 am tomorrow morning for the
Paradise Toronto Convention.
I'm not packed. I still need to get an oil change. Did I mention I'm driving? I'm driving.
So as if I didn't already have a TON of overdue photos to share with you guys... EVENTUALLY... now I'm gonna have even MORE!
For now, however, enjoy the guest strip above in lieu of my regular Friday update.
(I'm keeping the last strip up for those of you who are visiting for the first time.)
The strip features the fine, fine photography of none other than my roommate Kris (
www.endsend.typepad.com - yaaaay photography!!), who urges all of you to get up off yer snatches and
GO THE F*#@!! OUTSIDE!!
I'll see if I can't nab a wireless connection in Toronto over the weekend and share a little bit of the Canadian bliss, eh?
In other words, check between now and Tuesday, even though I'll be traveling - I might take a moment to share a photo or two from our neighbors upstairs.
Oh, and in case I'll SEE you at the convention, here's what I'll have: sketches ($25 b&w), McPedro, and Crazy Papers books ($6.50). That is IT, baby!! I'm not takin' anything more than that.
Just sketching a whole bunch.
See ya at the show, or see ya on the web! Or perhaps, if you open the door, I'll see you outside!!
No really, try it. You might see me.
