NYCC BABY!!

Alright y'all, I'm on the Chinatown bus to New York - come visit me and my "Crazy Papers" writer Jim Dougan at Artist Alley booth AA76 to pick up your very own copy of our book!

Original art from "Crazy Papers" will be available for sale both at the booth and at the party that night at Jigsaw after the show, but unfortunately (due to space limitations) I won't be bringing GWS art. However, feel free to buy yoru favorite GWS strip here or ask me for a GWS-themed commission at the show!

Monday's strip will be updated late late late that night or early Tuesday, but I shouldn't have to slight you guys - you'll still get three strips next week. :)

West Virginia never felt so good.

Wow. I've never been so happy to be home in my life.

New York was great fun, but also a HUGE damper on my health and stress level. That city is so tiny, so cold, so fast, and so cold. And it was f*ing COLD, too.

I'd like to first announce that, despite my reputation, I was indeed NOT nursing a hangover Saturday or Sunday morning. Instead I was nursing a nasty case of the "holy sh*t, you haven't slept, eaten, or sat down in HOW long?" I was sick and had been working just a little too hard for one weekend. HUGE apologies to anyone I missed because of it! But I figured if I was on-time and sick, I'd be a lot less useful than if I were late and healthy.

That said, I'm going straight to bed so I can work on GWS all day tomorrow. Oh! And thanks to everyone who bought copies of Crazy Papers, and anyone who's here because they discovered GWS over the weekend! The CP books are finished and look great - I'll be bringing them to Staple! this weekend in Austin, TX, and will let you guys know the moment we can sell them online.

Okay, sleep = GWS. Let's get some of that sleep.

Braaaains...

Sorry to stiff ya on the second comic this morning, guys. You're gonna have to bear with me this week. I've got too much to do in two days to prep for Staple! in Austin this weekend.

To bide your time, here's one of the many interviews I wound up doing in New York this past weekend: http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=9207

I haven't even heard it yet... which could be a bad thing. ;) I can't remember which one this was, so hopefully I wasn't oblivious to all things not sleep-related by this point. Enjoy!

Still...... not..... there!!

Sorry for the delays, guys - I should have just said "ONE WEEK SABBATICAL" last week so you wouldn't be checking for updates all the time. GWS will be back Friday for sure.

Meanwhile, here are a few of the sketches I did at the New York Comic Con (last weekend) and Staple! (this past weekend). Enjoy!

Crazy Papers is here!!

Hey, we got a rockin' review on Crazy Papers from Stephanie over at Silver Bullet: check it out!

And if you haven't gotten a book yet, you can finally buy it now! Just move your little eyes this way - it's in the right-hand gutter....................................... see it? Right there:

As for the pieces above (the ones I keep promising to sell on eBay): I meant to have everything put together this week for the sale of these lovely Hazel and Jamie framed pieces, but I'm still a little overwhelmed with work. So, next week is the week. You'll know when they're up for sale. And they're worth every penny, believe you me. ;) More info next Monday!

Oh, one more thing. If you know me, you know how much I like making baby seal jokes, but this is for real: http://www.hsus.org/protect_seals.html. Now go save some damn seals.

Danielle out.

Crazy Papers quickie...

Looks like the link is busted. I'll letchya know when it's back up!

Crazy Papers... YAY!!

The link is up now!! Buy your hearts out!!!!

And poor Hazel. That's the most action I've given her since the strip started. Tsk!

The Girls are up for grabs!!

... and I don't mean my boobs!

At 12:30 sharp today (Monday), the above image will be up for auction at eBay to buy as a set. The Buy It Now price is pretty steep (for me), but I think it'll be worth the price. These are my pride and joy - my favorite pieces. Bid at will, and best of luck to all you collectors!

Before I don't update ANYTHING on the site today...
... here are a few things to bide your time in case I fall asleep drooling on GWS #126 tonight:

First, an interview on me and Crazy Papers by the talented Stephanie Mangold at Silver Bullet Comics.

    1024x768     800x600

And a bit of fan art, if you will; a wallpaper image compiled by Courtney Gannon, made outta the current eBay auction pieces. Thanks, Courtney!

So if you don't see a new strip up right now, it'll be up later today. Thanks for your ever-present patience, loving readers!

One more thing (the Kim Yale Award)...

Was just informed (thanks, David!) that I'm eligible for the Kim Yale Award for Best New Talent. The Beat made a mention of me (today, 10:51 am - or just search for my name) and had a few pieces of art up for show.

I don't know anything about the Kim Yale award, but I'm flattered that The Beat wanted to toss me into the Eligible Artists bag. :)

Happy, happy, happy...
Well, my birthday isn't for a few more days (the 23rd), but today marked my one-year anniversary of being self-employed!

A year ago today (Sunday), I spent the day putting away my work clothes, putting together my office/room, and nervously looking over my jobs for the next month, hoping they'd pay the bills (they didn't, in fact - they all cancelled on me and I can't even remember how I managed to pay for April!). I wasn't certain I'd survive a year. And yet, here I am, broke and happy as ever.

With any luck, I'll be able to celebrate another self-employed year next March 19, and will be able to continue doing free comics on my own time. Wish me luck!

Oh, and speaking of broke (ha!), the eBay auction for the two illustrations of Jamie and Hazel are still up for grabs, at a cheap price as of right now. Last time I checked, the top bid was barely over $220, and the auction goes until 3:00ish Monday (huge apologies, I meant for it to end in the early afternoon tomorrow, but wasn't aware that they're on Pacific time!). For two pieces that's pretty cheap, so get on it fast if you want 'em! Good luck, bidders!

"A webcomic about... "

So here ya go, guys. "A webcomic about two girls, booze, sex and a talking cactus" now actually includes "sex."

Although GWS will never ever be pornographic in nature, it WILL finally have some mention of the S-word.

You know. The one the ends in "ex."

Sorry it's taken so long to live up to its pitch!
