"Meme?"
Apparently there is a Live Journal "meme" (how the hell do you pronounce that??) going around prompting cartoonists to draw
Bat Girl in their own fashion.
I don't have a Live Journal (not one that I use, anyway), but I thought I'd contribute.
Seeing as I'm taking over the Weekly World News'
Bat Boy comic (pick it up today - it's out, guys!!), I felt this was the only appropriate way to draw
Bat Girl.
(Naturally, the butterfly was eaten immediately after this snapshot was taken.)
And let me repeat,
Bat Boy is now out on the shelves!
This is the first time my comics have been nationally printed/syndicated, so this issue is a bit of a collector's item.
Go get it!

New announcements (and NO, "Danielle sucks" is not an announcement)!!
Okay, yeah, I
do suck for not having a new comic up today.
I won't have a new one up for the rest of the week, as a matter of fact.
I would have told you guys last week, but there was a little tiny bit of hope that I'd have free time for GWS this week.
Alas, I'm on the home stretch for Crazy Papers, and I've got a full day's worth of work ahead for every day until at least the 22nd.
So I'm going to pick back up
next Monday with new GWS strips.
What's that?
"MONDAY?"
You heard right, baby.
Your reward for being such patient readers and waiting a week for new strips is that
GWS will be now updated THREE TIMES A WEEK starting next Monday.
Happy belated Christmas!!
So starting next week, make sure you check www.girlswithslingshots.com
every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for new strips.
I would have started it on the first week of 2006, but I promised my sanity that I'd wait until Crazy Papers was completely finished.
In
Bat Boy news, I finally picked up a copy of the
Weekly World News today, and it's in! Go pick it up, guys!
If you wanna read more about the Bat Boy strip, hop on over to
The Pulse where the lovely Jen Contino has interviewed me.
Special feature in this interview:
the only photograph I have of myself with Bat Boy, in the flesh!

Crazy!!
Thought I should show you guys what I've been up to.
This isn't the final cover (it's only a portion - the designer's taking care of all that... designy...
stuff), but it gives you some idea.
Thought I'd post my messy-as-hell process instead of just the final. Enjoy!
(GWS MONDAY! YAY YAY YAY!!)

New Schedule Blues
Sorry it's taking me so long to get used to this new schedule, boys & gals.
I've been doing Monday and Wednesday night strips (for Tuesdays and Thursdays, respectively) for over a year now, so it's taking some getting used to!
So
Crazy Papers is totally wrapped up now, and I'm wading through the piles and piles of e-mails I've been meaning to get to since last September.
If you haven't heard from me and you were expecting to, please continue to give me time! :)
I'm going to spend some time in beautiful Undisclosed Location starting next Thursday, so if you really really need me in person or over the phone soon, be sure to get a hold of me in the next week!
*sniff* Yeah, I'm gonna go bathe now...

Pre-Spring Cleaning
So I'm between projects right now, which means I've found a few spare days to attack my studio/office/bedroom before it attacks me.
And guess what I discovered? Lots and lots and lots of original artwork that I'm DYING to get rid of!
So get ready, boys and girls. February will be the last month to buy GWS originals at their current price ($45 for any strip you want) before the prices go up in March, and I'll be eBaying a crapload of original art that I need to get out of my apartment.
I don't have the space for this stuff, so if you do, and you've got a little Xmas cash that you HAVEN'T spent yet, and you want some original Corsetto art (Bat Boy strips might be in the mix, too!), keep it pocketed for the upcoming sale.
But, more on the sale later, after I dust the piles that I've unearthed... !

Aaaaalso...(press releases!)
A little more Crazy Papers goodness!
Crazy Papers at Chatterbox Comix
Crazy Papers at The Pulse
The cover's up there (forgive the sketchy PDF-ness of it!), as well as the two intro pages (which I love probably more than any other pages in the book!).
Enjoy and please feel free to leave comments!

eBay away!
Sorry for the late strip today, guys - Tuesday wound up being a loooooooooong day!
So I've decided to kick right into the eBay sales and get rid of some of my favorites first.
The idea so far is that I'm going to put 5 pieces up every week, in some kind of theme.
This week's theme is
favorite convention sketch art - stuff I've had (or would have had!) at conventions, which have been eyed over and called "dibs" on, but never bought.
So here's your chance for some of the most often-claimed pieces I've got!
Among the work I'm selling are...
 |
Avril Lavigne pencil sketches that I did last year, which were supposed to have been warm-ups for her recent (current?) tour's lunchbox design which I was asked to do (unfortunately for me, the group that was asking for the art decided to have in-house artists do the design last-minute... bummer!)... |
 |
A totally random sketch of a girl doing a cartwheel - my first time trying out Prisma grey markers... |
 |
A sign I posted at a convention (Pittsburgh 2004?), which features one of the my first drawings of Hazel in her GWS "outfit," months before the concept behind GWS was even created... |
 |
My first shot at using brush and ink (since grade school, that is), an inkwash of model Laetitia Casta in one of her early photo shoots. This one has been claimed several times, but never paid for and never picked up! ... |
 |
And the original pencil sketch used on The Happy Cactus Dance tee shirts! This is EASILY my favorite drawing EVER of everyone's favorite Irish talking cactus, McPedro. |
I'm starting all the bids at $0.99, so you could be buying some art for REALLY cheap, guys! Have at it! (Click on the images above to go to their auctions!)
All the artwork will be up for about a week -
happy bidding!!
PS some of the upcoming auction themes include fine art (paintings, ink drawings, etc.) and GWS concept art, just to give you an idea of what's coming up next!

Cable Blues
So Kris and I recently (as in, days ago) ditched the DSL line because we were paying $100 for the DSL and a bare-bones basic phone service, while we both have cell phones and don't even need a land line.
We got cable to replace our DSL and will be paying 1/3 of what we were paying originally.
Unfortunately, we're already having problems (hence, late strip!).
So please bear with us while we deal with the irritating, but inevitable, technical difficulties of switching to a new service!
Until we get everything settled, I most likely won't be responding to e-mails and I'll only be making text changes to this site.
Hopefully this won't last past the weekend.
Keep your fingers crossed for us!!
