more kitty bits!

Here's the word on Savannah, the kitty that my friends found on the side of the road:

"We're probably going to need money for the cat for some time to come, sadly. Her surgery went okay yesterday but there's going to be a lot of ongoing care - she'll be eating through a tube for probably a month, for instance. I'm going to update my blog (http://fogger1138.blogspot.com/) with kitty info as it comes in."

To all those who have sent money and thoughts, thank you SO MUCH for your help! I was recently asked by someone if they could send money to me via PayPal and if I could pass it along to them; yes, that would be GREAT. Here's the deal: if you click on the "support GWS with PayPal" button below anytime before Halloween, I'll send that money directly to Mike and Heather to help them pay for Savannah's recovery. So get to donatin'!

There's plenty more information on how the surgery went and just how this kitten's life is going to go at Mike's blog: fogger1138.blogspot.com.

Again, thanks so much to everyone who's been helping! And Mike and Heather send big thanks as well!

i -heart- mcpedro, kitten talk, and original danielle art

Simply had to sneak McP in there today - I'd written about a dozen other strips, but it just doesn't feel right anymore unless our favorite talking succulent makes an appearance at least every five strips or so.

New info on the kitty - the first surgery went through and Savannah survived it, but now they need a specialist to go through with a second surgery. Again Mike and Heather are asking for as much help as possible - they need to raise $1500 for this surgery or else the kitten will need to be put down.

Mike is an avid comic art collector and has some FANTASTIC pieces in his collection; he's auctioning off some incredibly hot pieces by Davis and Riggs and a VERY special Star Wars piece by the one and only Adam Hughes. (Click links for actual auction pieces.) Any money collected from these auctions will go directly toward Savannah's recovery.

More pictures of our beloved Frankenkitty (you'll understand when you see them!) can be found here along with updates on the recovery effort, and info on where to send donations. Again, any money donated to GWS via the "SUPPORT GWS" button below (before November 1) will go directly to the fund as well. Thank you so so much to those of you who have been donating!!

Lastly, I've decided to take most of November and December off from all projects (except to finish Crazy Papers) so that I can do made-to-order Christmas gifts, including (but not limited to!) caricatures, portraits, and custom-made cards from your own photographs. Anyone who's interested (or who knows someone who might be interested!) can find more information at this webpage. Please ignore the cheesy-as-hell "marketing voice" I chose to use on the site. :D

hot piece o' Adam Hughes art for auction!!

I know, I know. "ENOUGH ALREADY ABOUT THE KITTEN!" I'm sure there are at least one or two cat-haters out there (one, at least, because I know my dad reads this strip... !) But this is worth it, believe me.

A lot of you know what a shameless fangirl I am when it comes to Adam Hughes. Well, I'm even more fangirly when it comes to Adam Hughes' pencils. And he happens to be auctioning off a pencil piece for the sake of the kitten. A pencil drawing of Catwoman, no less - how fitting! Here's the link:

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE CAT!

And, personally? I dig the prelim that he's selling even MORE than the cover that came out of it - this is a piece of artwork I would really like to buy, and I don't usually show much interest in buying original comic art.

Catwoman/Hughes fans, get to bidding!

NOT for the weak-hearted...

I know I'm going to regret this forever, but I promised several people photos of my Halloween costume. This is NOT for the weak-hearted, lemme tell ya, boys & gals! You've been warned!!

For the sake of my reputation, I feel I should point out that NONE of the hair you see in this photo is REAL!! I may be living in Hippietown, WV, but I DO shave every now and then. And for the record, I do NOT grow facial hair. Not without hormone pills, anyway.

This is also a once-only costume (sorry, Rafer!). Which, I'm sure, is a relief to my brother, whose Halloween party I crashed last night in Harrisonburg, VA. I was damn near disowned as his broth--uhhh, sister the moment I showed up in this get-up.

And yes, I stuffed the skirt. I realize that you can't really tell in this picture. But it's not the size of the boat, baby... !

Here are a few from the party. Enjoy!

shameless

For anybody who has asked or was wondering how I come up with my ideas...

  • Pour some tea and take out the script notebook.
  • Re-read the last few strips in the current story arc.
  • Brainstorm ideas by writing out any words that come to mind.
  • Write the skeleton of the strip, then lay out the dialogue.
  • Scratch the whole idea and write something that ends with Jamie and Hazel in a pillowfight.

  • And speaking of "anybody who has asked," I'd like to take this opportunity to extend a HUGE apology to those of you who have either written letters of encouragement and/or sent donations. I regret that I've let so many of you wonderful people slip by without a personal "THANK YOU!" from yours truly. I know it doesn't mean as much in a mass form-letter style like this, but THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! I do read every single letter that comes to me; I just don't have much time these days to reply.

But truly, thank you so much!!
