Up at dawn
Well, I wasn't REALLY up at dawn, but I was up before 8! So I finally hit that drawing class I keep saying I'm gonna go to.

I'm going to see if I can't wake up early every (or at least every-other) morning to start the day off with a little practice, and give you guys something to look at when I get home.

Shins
Goddammit... whatever you do, DO NOT BUY ANY OF THE SHINS' ALBUMS!! You'll never be able to stop listening to them, they're so freaking good!

Yay for Internet diversions!

What a cool website! If you go to artpad.art.com, they have this neat interface that's like a way-watered-down version of Photoshop, and you can make neat stuff like this. The best part, though? If you click on the picture up there (or this link), you can replay all of the strokes I made to see how I laid out the "painting."

Here's another one:

Anyway, I simply had to share. Right. Back to work!

Blank screen?
And later today there will be a new strip above, and all will be forgiven. Right? Right??

Patience... and a girly confession.

Alright. Okay. This is going to sound girly, but I don't care.

I *LOVE* Sex and the City.

Love it.

I just rented a few episodes to watch last night (as research for a project which I shall not disclose until the deal has been sealed), and I thought I was going to hate it. Au contraire (sp? Whatev.). It's BRILLIANT!

I'm sure everyone who's reading this and, unlike yours truly, HAS had cable for the past six years, already knew what a great show it is. So I'm just saying it because I wanted to share my discovery with someone. The show rocks.

Oh yeah. And I'm sorry the strip was late. REALLY late. I got VERY sidetracked. But thank you for still reading (obviously, or else you wouldn't be here!)!!!

Bluegrass, baby.
This strip is brought to you by the kick-ass bluegrass mix my hometown sweetheart Emily sent me.

I'd like to take a moment to give a totally pre-pubescent, girly shout-out to "my girl," Emily. (There should be a "yo" in there somewhere.)

We talk a total of 5 or 6 hours on the phone per year, if we're lucky, and see each other MAYBE twice. I miss her a bunch and wish I could spend more time with her, but she's in North Carolina getting her Masters and playing Ultimate Frisbee and doing exhausting 72-hour take-home exams (and hopefully taking advantage of the single life while she's still in college!). And yet she STILL finds time to make little care packages for her friends. The girl never ceases to amaze me with her talents, dedication, beauty, and huge heart. And furry legs, if she's gone camping for too long ;) Love you and miss you, Em!

This is still my favorite picture of her and I together (because a shout-out isn't truly complete without a high school photo):

(Em's on the left... this was taken at least seven years ago!)

Alright, since maybe two of you actually know Emily personally, I guess I should give the rest of you something to read that won't bore you, right?

First things first, sorry for the long absence! Unfortunately, that's going to be the norm for the next few weeks, as I'll be out-of-town for the next couple of weekends and working my arse off in between.

24-Hour Comics Challenge
April 16-17, noon to noon

This weekend I'll be in Jersey pulling another 24-hour comic out of my ass at Wild Pig Comics II in Kenilworth. Anyone who'd like to stop by and meet myself and the creator of In His Likeness, Jamie, please feel free to drop in! We'll be working from 12 noon on Saturday til 12 noon on Sunday (April 16 and 17). After that, we're going to lie down on the floor of the shop and drool. Should be a riot.

Also - get this! - Chris is going to be holding another HUGE 50% off sale at the store while this is going on!! So even if you hate me and/or Jamie, come in to bank on the savings.

(Hey, cool! If you click on the "HUGE SALE" link, they're calling me the featured artist! What love!)

Oh, and one more thing about Jamie - he's the muse behind Jameson, our beloved barista. So even if you think his strip is blasphemous, surely you can appreciate his influence on GWS.

Pittsburgh Comic-Con
April 22, 23, & 24

The weekend after next - April 22-24, Fri thru Sun - I'll be at the Pittsburgh comic-con, my all-time favorite convention. I'm getting stuff together already to sell - I'll have tons of new original artwork, prints, and GWS and Ramblers originals for your, uh, buying pleasure, as well as little booklets with sketches in 'em! So if you find yourself near Pittsburgh in a little over a week, please make a date with the Pittsburgh convention! I'll be in the Small Press area this year at booth S089, pretty close to the guests o' honor.

If you happen to be going to the convention and you would like a free pass in exchange for stepping in for me behind the booth occasionally, please contact me asap!! I forgot that I get a free pass because I bought one of the larger tables! Foolish me!

Of course, the downside is that I'll most likely write "danielle corsetto's BITCH" on your nametag. But, you still get in free.

Right. I think that's it for upcoming events. I wanted to go to Cape in Dallas, but it looks like it's off. I need to start making more money!

Oh, wait! That's what I forgot to mention. Ebay.

Ebay

I'm going to start selling original artwork via Ebay very soon. Anyone who wants some original art - pencils, inks, and even a few markers and ink washes - should be pleased to know that I now accept PayPal for artwork purchases. I just recently sold my first GWS originals to Eric of comicstripfan.com, who has a MASSIVE and very impressive collection of original comic strip art at his site! You've gotta check it out. REALLY nice guy, too.

Eric bought #1 and #38 of the GWS collection, so those two are gone now, but if you're interested in buying GWS originals other than those two, please e-mail me and we'll talk, or come see me at Pittsburgh!

If you'd like to see what I sent Eric (including the originals and a sketch I did for him), check it out here!

Alright. Could that be it? I believe it is. I have nothing else on my calendar worth talking about.

Do you people really read to the ends of these long entries? I applaud you! Now GO GET A JOB!!

(over) Compensation.
Fair warning that the entry following this one is way over-compensating for the long, blogless past week. Read with care!

There's a note in there about the Pittsburgh comic-con that I thought I should bring to your attention. Anyone attending the convention who has NOT ordered tickets yet might want to contact me - I forgot that I get a free ticket with my small press table! As long as I can steal you to sit at my table every so often, I'd gladly hand the ticket over. I will be choosing carefully, however - if I know you, you're going to be more likely to be picked, as you'll have to deal with money if you're table-sitting for me.

Also, remember the 24-Hour Comic event at Wild Pig Comics II in Kenilworth, NJ this weekend! And last but not least, yes, today's strip was a cheap shot at showing Jamie in her hot goth outfit one last time. You can thank me later.
