the Staple! story

Click here to read about my trip to Austin, TX!
I did a little ego-surfing the other night, and found something I forgot to link.
This is, by far,
the best interview anyone's ever done of me.
Ego-searching also caused me to find something I should probably make a comment on:
this brief mentions that I don't seem to know what 360ep is going to do for GWS.
This is brought up in the Staple! thing posted above, too, but I thought I'd bring it up here as well.
I'm a MISERABLE speaker, and unless I have a long time to think things through, I'm not great with words, period.
In fact, I script and re-script GWS strips for almost an hour before I start drawing them.
Although I AM aware of what the company does and is in charge of, I'm not good at talking about it, because I don't understand the terminology or how to use the words.
"Lisencing" - beyond that little card that allows me to buy booze and play scratch-off tickets - is a new concept to me, and I don't know how to talk about it.
But I AM aware of what 360 is going to do for the strip.
And one of these days, I'm even going to be able to explain it.
But not today. Today, I'm just clearing my ass.
So for today, just enjoy the
Staple! review
and assume that I know what I'm talking... uh, THINKING about.

I must say...
I had a GREAT time researching for today's strip!

About time!
I just read that the Eisner Awards
are going to recognize webcomics this year!
Awesome!

Horoscope for Aries
You've gone too far to go back now. Don't look down. Dive right in.
Guess that means I shouldn't beg for my job back anytime soon!
So yesterday was my last day at the Journal. I'd be lying if I said that I was 100% relieved. I'm never going to miss a job as much as I'll miss that one.
But on the other hand, I am all kinds of excited. Monday marks my official "first day" of being self-employed.
I'll be nose-to-the-grindstone reading up on PayPal and eBay rules, creating invoice and contract documents, designing and distributing advertisements for my caricature work, and of course working on the strip, all week long.
In between that, I'll be doing my taxes and responding to e-mails, so if you haven't heard back from me in awhile, keep your eye on your inbox!
Woah, wait. "Reading up on PayPal and eBay rules?" Does this mean... COULD this mean... that we'll be able to BUY stuff by danielle??
Can't get anything past you guys ;) Yes.
I want to start selling work - GWS-related and otherwise - on this site and via my
ego site by the time summer hits.
Should have some art to share with you soon, too, so keep checking back over the next week!
