Teaser!!

Why... could that be... *gasp* a certain in-high-demand and not-yet-developed early GWS character??

(Oh wait! I know the role-playing term: NPC. Allan, Russ, Tanya and Josh, are you proud of me?)

It's now 6 a.m. and I've spent the past 3 hours making GWS valentines... only to pass out on the keyboard before I can post them on the website!

Come back tonight for a V-day treat (including the beloved character above!), some news, and an explanation behind this.

A little break (and why I almost went pro-Mac last night)
I'm taking a quick break from the storyline because I thought you guys might enjoy this just as much. These are the V-day cards I was creating until 6:30 yesterday morning. Hope you like!

And here's why I almost went pro-Mac last night.

I've got one of those gigantic 2000MB Hotmail accounts that I pay a measley $20 bucks a year for, and it was working great until I started having problems with it sometime last year. What with MSN's utter hatred of their "rival companies," my one or two times using Opera (instead of Internet Explorer) to access my Hotmail account resulted in months and months of deleted e-mails. Naturally, when I called MSN to find out what happened, they blamed it on my browser. Sketchy......

Fast-forward to last night. I was checking my Hotmail inbox and sending off a few e-mails last night, when midnight rolled around and suddenly *POOF!*... all of the e-mails in my inbox were GONE!

Now, I've got this account FILLED with backup e-mails, e-mail reminders to myself, fanmail I haven't responded to (sorry, guys and gals!)... so full that 9% of the preposturously huge 2000 megs of space had been taken up in the past year. That's 200 megs worth of e-mails and attachments, gone. No reason.

So instead of spending the night working on a new GWS strip, I spent it submitting a colorful complaint to Hotmail, scribbling down what was left of my now-deleted e-mails via cookies, contacting clients with an alternative e-mail address to reassure them that I hadn't fallen off the face of the planet, and setting up my Yahoo account to be an efficient substitute for the time being.

To blow off a little steam, I sat down to watch the Princess Bride with my roommate Kris (after he'd tried to calm me down, to no avail). Sure thing, Andre the Giant and my beloved little Spaniard did it for me. I was soothed.

After the movie I returned to my computer and tried the Hotmail account one more time. And guess what.

*POOF!* There are all of my e-mails, safe and sound. And I have NO idea why.

Either way, I'm not trusting Microsoft anymore, let alone Hotmail. They've really been screwing with me lately. I'm most likely going to start moving to a new e-mail account in the next month or so, in which case I'll post the new address here and send out a mass e-mail, so's you won't miss it.

Anyway... onto other news, as promised!

First, I wanted to apologize to anyone who has submitted a comic book script to me, in hopes that I'd eventually get back to them and say "Hey, I wanna draw that!" It's looking more and more feasible for me to do comics and freelance work full-time, which will be a dream come true. And I am VERY willing to solicit potential scripts to people who are serious about publishing their books and paying a reasonable page rate. I've just had a hard time getting back into the groove of things and returning e-mails.

So if you've e-mailed recently with a question or script, or would LIKE to now that I've opened the invitation, PLEASE send/re-send the information to both my Hotmail account (dcorsetto@hotmail.com) and my Yahoo account (dcorsetto@yahoo.com). I'm still not sure all of my e-mails have been returned to my inbox, and I know I'm having trouble finding several e-mails (if the guy who collects original comic strips and would like to buy a GWS original is reading this, please contact me again!). If all else fails, e-mail me again and remind my lazy ass to get back to you!

Shoot. I really wanted to talk about Street Angel to you guys tonight. I'm going to post more news about it tomorrow instead. For now, let me just say that anybody who likes GWS will most likely LOVE Street Angel. So come back later for more information on another comic you're gonna love... :)

15 and counting!
I have the best readers on the planet.

After my post early this morning, I've received 15 offers for gmail invites (as well as supportive MSN-hate mail) from you guys, and I'm pleased to say that I now have my very own gmail account. Thanks to everyone who sent me love!

I took the invite from Chris, a reader who tickled me when he stated that using Hotmail is "like having an abusive boyfriend." Ha! Yeah, that one took the blue ribbon.

And before I forget, my new e-mail address is dcorsetto@gmail.com (I know, I'm getting predictable in my.......... still really young and immature age).

Next up, something I got in the mail a few minutes ago:

These guys have committed an entire website to reviews and commentary on webcomics, including but not limited to a radio-style "podcast" where the two guys talk for about 30 minutes about webcomics. Needless to say (because I'm that much of an egomaniac), last week they did a podcast show which reviewed Girls With Slingshots! Check out the February 7 post - if you don't have time to listen to the entire show, their commentary about GWS starts around 18:50 minutes. Pretty insightful stuff! And I think I'll be taking a few of their suggestions to heart.

As for that Street Angel stuff I promised...

You'll just have to take my word that this is a great little comic (well, you could take my word, or you could check out some of the previews). I met Jim, the artist, at Baltimore last year and only got to talk to him briefly. Super nice guy, though. On top of that, a very talented artist. He draws for Street Angel and, upon reading the issue #1 I got from him, I immediately fell in love with the book.

C'mon. It's a pre-teen skateboarding girl who kicks ninja ass. Ninjas who play basketball and wear "Hello my name is" stickers. Really. You can't NOT love this book.

Jim recently e-mailed me a link to a contest they're having over at Street Angel (which is published by Slave Labor, btw). If you simply send your e-mail address in to them, you might win either a package of the first few issues (in which case you can read them, and thank me later), OR some of Jim's fabulous original artwork! So get to it! Here's where you sign up: http://www.comicbookgalaxy.com/streetangelcontest.html

Alright, that's it for me. I've gotta get out of the habit of updating this site at 3 in the morning. I'm ready for bed!

See ya Thursday...

Happy V-day... again!
Just for my pal Mel, here's that link to the GWS valentines again:

Well, partially for Mel... and partially to make her husband stop harrassing me. :)
